This year’s event was held on July 13, 2013 in Lafayette,
Louisiana where 180 competitors took to the stage. This year’s state championship event turned out to be the
largest in its history dating back over 20 years.
Special guest was IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Mr. Roelly
Winklaar and fresh off his Chicago Pro win the previous week and IFBB Pro Bikini Ms. Brittany Tacy, the
winner of the 2012 Pro Greater Gulf States. In addition there was a special tribute to the 1960 Mr.

The event had more interest this year than most with the
Tribute to the 1960 Mr. America, Red Lerille, added to the program. A 10 minute 50-slide presentation of
his early life, from his 1st gym to his current club success,
personal acclaim, and his children’s individual endeavors was enjoyed by
all. In the end it was Red
receiving a standing “O” from 1500
people shortly following the last slide.
Here is NPC Louisiana Chairman Luke Tesvich and event promoter Tommy
Guarisco presenting Red with a plaque in honor of his 1960 Mr. America title
and for all that he has done in the bodybuilding sport over 50 years as well as the Louisiana NPC
ROELLY ON STAGE
But this night the winners had to share the stage with a
guy from the Caribbean. Roelly
Winklaar, fresh in from the island after a big win in Chicago, gave the crowd
the biggest thrill of the night.
Roelly posed on stage and then ventured into the packed house as some
specatators was lucky enough to be on the row of seats Roelly choose to go down
and got a real nice close-up of the champ.
Thanks to Tommy Guarisco for another totally successful event. Another thanks to Tophie Malloy of cajuncandids.com for the awesome photos. Congratulations to all of the contestants!
