Looking for a natural way to ease
that post workout soreness?  I have
just the solution:  Ginger.  Adding this little root to your diet
can help alleviate pain by up to 25%.
The Journal of Pain issued a new study in 2010 with 2 groups of
participants.  One group ingested
about ½ tsp of raw or heat-treated ginger daily, while the other received a
placebo.  On the 8th
day, they did a very difficult arm workout, and on the 9th day the
group that took ginger had a pain level about 25% lower than the others.  Why is this?  Well ginger contains compounds that have the same anti-inflammatory
properties that are found in nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.  It is even thought to have a dulling
effect on nerves that process pain signals.  Interesting!
