Reds blueberry biscuits are a
healthy and hearty breakfast choice.
They are made with whole grain flour, turbinado sugar, and raw
blueberries. Yum! At 437 calories
they are an appropriate 22% of a 2000 calorie diet. For an entire meal, fantastic! Let’s compare this to the usual grab and go fast food meals
you may choose on the way to work.
A Spanish Omelet Bagel (bagel, you think healthy right) comes in at a
whopping 710 calories! And that
doesn’t include the hash brown! Or
you can get a deluxe breakfast for 1150 calories! While these are loaded in fat (40 and 60 g) our
biscuit only has 16 g fat and has an added plus, they are high in protein and
fiber. It takes the stomach longer
to break these nutrients down when compared to carbohydrates solely which helps
curb that appetite and keeps you fuller longer. With 8 g fiber, 32% of your daily needs, 11 g protein, and almost
½ cup fruit serving per biscuit, it’s a well rounded breakfast choice. One idea I tell clients, if you come in
for a morning workout, eat ½ a biscuit for breakfast; and save the other ½ for
midmorning snack. Happy eating.
