    Cranberries The holidays are right around the corner, and with that come delicious cranberries!  Cranberries are one of the few native fruits to North America and dates back to the 1550s.  Cranberries are naturally fat free, cholesterol free, low in sodium (2 mg per cup raw), and low in calories (44 calories per cup raw).  With almost 5 g of fiber per serving, it’s a good source and is loaded with antioxidants!  They are high in flavonoids and polyphenolics, two compounds which have been shown to help promote health in various ways.  Upcoming research is showing that this fruit may help in improving dental health, cancer prevention, and stomach ulcers.  The USDA completed its large study of antioxidant content of foods, and cranberries were on top with the highest antioxidant content per serving!  It was followed by blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries, respectively.  Go to www.uscranberries.com for more information on this fruit as well as delicious and healthy recipes you can use for the holidays as well as in your everyday life!
